Statement of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze - Admission of Selective Justice
On the air of TV company "Rustavi 2," during a debate, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze publicly admitted that there are television stations in the country that owe debts to the state budget, yet the government neither demands payment nor imposes sanctions on them.
At the same time, it has been revealed that the authorities have covertly restructured the debt of TV company "Rustavi 2."
The government has a completely different approach toward TV company "Trialeti." Despite having a significantly smaller debt, the Ministry of Finance has imposed an incasso on the company, as a result of which its entire revenues have been fully seized for several months.
The ongoing process against "Trialeti" is being carried out through Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili and the head of the Revenue Service, Irakli Beraia.
The government is completely ignoring multiple requests from "Trialeti":
• to lift the incasso
• to ensure equal conditions
• and to grant the legally provided opportunity for restructuring.
From the Prime Minister’s statement, it becomes clear that the decision as to which media outlet will receive debt relief and which will be destroyed depends on political will.
When one television company is forgiven its debt, while another is completely suffocated -
this is no longer justice.
❗ This is political corruption.
❗ This is discrimination, selective justice, and a gross violation of the principle of equality.
👉 This is unjust governance.
